Credentialing Pause for Anthem BCBS CO & Carelon

To protect our providers from financial instability and administrative burden, CCS officially paused all new credentialing with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Colorado and Carelon Behavioral Health in Summer 2025.

  • The Reason: We experienced a significant volume of unexplained claim denials from these carriers. Despite our advocacy, these companies have historically been unwilling to resolve these systemic billing issues.

  • Our Stance: We do not wish to add providers to a panel where their work may not be reliably compensated.

  • Current Action: We are currently in high-level discussions with Kaiser and Carelon to develop a robust accountability system. Our goal is to ensure that if we reopen these panels, there is a clear, reliable path for claim rectification.

Staying Informed

We understand that many clinicians wish to serve BCBS and Kaiser members outside the Denver/Boulder region. We are monitoring this situation regularly. As soon as a resolution is reached and we feel confident in their billing integrity, we will notify the entire collective immediately.
